I’m empty. You’re surprised? You thought she would suit my gilded walls. You rather fancied she would sit on my perch Waiting to hear if her song was in your key. It’s no good looking. She never came. Why would she? She knows that love and fear can’t co-exist. She knows that control can only be granted. Yet - Here we sit. I’m empty. You in the cage next to me Preening your panic and Feeding on the seed of self-importance. Listen. Can you hear it?
